The Falcon offense looked as sharp as ever and seemed to be able to almost move the ball at will against a struggling Brave defense. On the other side of the football, Braves coach Kim Peterson felt his team lacked some of the spark that has been a part of his . club in region outings this season. Defensively we didnt play all that well and offensively we were a little fiat. But we got several turnovers and threw deep for touchdowns twice, Peterson said. Those turnovers, including one on the last play of the game, and the long passes along with kick-crpunt- er Matt Bombards foot were all needed to secure the win for the Braves. The outcome of the game was still in doubt until the final gun. Bountiful had already taken its final and only lead of the game on a PAT by Bombard and the Braves had regained possession of bility of a runback or for the Fal- cons to take advantage of a d rule the free kick. If Bombard had not gotten off a good punt, the Falcons could have taken a fair catch and then would have been entitled to an uncontested field goal attempt. That because of a rule that says the receiving team is entitled to a free kick, an uncontested punt or a field goal attempt, on the first down after taking a fair catch. But the rule never came into play because the Falcons fumbled the punt and Bountiful recovered for the win. "The outcome of the game was in doubt until the last play of the game. Fortunately for us they fumbled the punt, or they could have taken a free kick, Peterson little-use- said. The Braves face arch-rivWoods Cross in a crosstown meeting Thursday. This week Bountiful comes to Woods Cross Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Weve been looking forward to this game for a long time. Theres a natural rivalry and intensity has been added by recent events, Eldracher said. Our older players came out short last year and they havent forgotten. Bountiful has a real dangerous team. Their players are young and not overpowering, but we have lots of respect for them. And were going to work at not making the same mistakes that Clearfields made, he said.
