Show Page SB South Edition : -- Lakeside Review ' Wednesday, March 14, 1984 Assertive Dance Troupe to Perform Lisa Butler, daughter of Blaine and Barbara Butler, Bountiful, will appear as one of the featured soloists when the BYU Ballroom Dance Company presents its concert at the Woods Cross High School auditorium on Friday night, April 6. The BYU Ballroom Dance company will present the same show to be taken on tour to the Orient this spring. They were invited by the Chinese government to be a cultural exchange group representing the United States. The group will present their concert in China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii, and Thailand. Returning from a successful tour of Northern California where they performed 12 concerts, Ms. Butler reports that every show ended with standing ovations. Ms. Butler said some of the most exciting moments take place off stage when the performers have only one dance number in which to do a complete costume change. Many zippers are being zipped and hair pieces being pinned in place just seconds before stepping on stage for the next dance. In one city the hall in which they performed had no dressing rooms, but the team managed to change costumes in the parking lot with car lights and cardboard boxes as make-shidressing rooms. The difficult part was being outside in the cold after performing under hot lights on Training Class Set An assertiveness training class specifically designed for youth between the ages of 12 and 17 will begin March 20 at the Davis County Mental Health office in 3 Win in Spelling dance with the BYU Ballroom Dance Company during its performance at Woods Cross High on April 6. LISA BUTLER from Bountiful, will First place winner in the Davis County School District spelling bee held last week is Christine Roth, a student ot Muir Elementary School in Bountiful. She spelled the word mucilage correctly to win. George and Mary Roth of Bountiful are her parents. Jason Kimmel, a sixth grader at East Layton Elementary School, came in second in the competition. He is a son of Paul and Sandy Kimmel of 2805 E. Oak Hills, Layton. Daniel Dygert, son of Cherrill and Howard Dygert and a student at Farmington Elementary School, placed third after missing the word staggered. The 90 minute show is performed without intermission. It features 28 different dance Boogie Woogie, Rumba, Foxtrot, Charleston, to the elegantly costumed Viennese Waltz. Several comedy Blue Cat Strut Danube Who? and The Little Me- n- will especially delight the children in the audience as well as they mysterious Twlight DANIEL DYGERT Zone. Dedication is the quality the directors look for in choosing y. .. The Dance company also has four assistant directors and each of them will be soloists in the concert. Ms. Butler is one of the assistants and also teaches four Social Dance classes for BYU on campus. The teams Cha Cha routine P.Y.T. was choreographed by her. : 292-505- it does work. MR.NICE GUY.
