Lynn W. Cook, a candidate for the City Council, said he feels deeply committed to preserving the quality of life enjoyed in this area. He has lived in- the Kaysville-FruHeights area since 1960 and, in Fruit - the City Council, said he would like to see Fruit Heights remain a community primarily of single dwellings with lots large enough to provide at least a small vegetable garden. it Heights since 1979. ; Cook graduated from Davis High School in 1968 with honors and from the University of Utah in 1975 magna cum laude in' civil engineering. In 1981 he received a masters degree from the U of U in civil engineering. Tie has been employed at Eimco P.E.G in Salt Lake City since 1974. He has been awarded one U.S. patent and has two patents pending. He has also been awarded a national merit award frpm the Lincoln Arc Welding Society for excellent design achievements. .Cook feels his background and engineering experience can be a valuable addition to the City Council due to the growth and development that will undoubtedly occur in future years. He said he believes that growth can be accomplished in an orderly fashion, without taxation if future is done planning intelligently, fairly and carried out consistently: He and his wife Katherine have four children. 'Ben F. Donoho is seeking election to the Fruit Heights City Council. He and his wife Mary and six children have lived in Fruit Heights for three years. He was born in Kansas City, Kan., and moved to Utah 19 years ago after serving five years in the Air Force'. Donoho has a bachelors degree in business management and a masters degree in education adminstration. He is currently employed in the LDS Church offices in an administrative position. I am a conscientious and concerned citizen who believes citizen involvement determines the climate you live in, he said. Fruit Heights is a choice to raise children and I would like to; see the high standards of this community maintained. Jay N. Fisher, a candidate for ; flRi , Fruit Heights has always been a community with standards of decency and good taste, he said. It has attracted upright, concenred, contributing, traditional family-typ- e citizens. I would like to help preserve that tradition. Fisher and his wife Carmen have three children and seven grandchildren. They have lived at 410 South Edgehill Dr. for the past 17 years. He is presently employed with the Davis School District as coordinator of Project Outreach, a program to help disadvantaged students realistically identify their needs, abilities, interests, goals and provide training opportunities to help make them competitive in the job market. He received a bachelor degree from Utah State University and masters degree from the University of Colorado. He has also graduated from the Air Force Institute of Technology and Air Command and Staff College. He holds professional counseling certification from Brigham Young University and has had professional management training. He served in many leadership positions in production and training in the Air Force. If elected, I will strive to make decisions on sound principles that will benefit the community. I believe government should have citizen input and that elected officials must remember that they are serving at the pleasure of the citizens, he the city as well as wide experience in city operations as valuable qualifying experience. Wade is a graduate of Weber State College in political science and also has a masters degree in business management from the University of Arkansas. The present city council has accomplished much during the past .four years to establish a firm foundation for future growth and expansion, he said. Great strides have been made in the expansion of water resources, including several new sources of water and a new treatment plant. New storm sewers and flood control measures have been developed; capital expenditures have been made for new and vehicles and equipment. The city is in the final stages of implementing new zoning and other ordinances designed to take care of future growth and expansion. Expenditures have been made while property tax mill levies have decreased the past' four years, he update- d-maintenance ' said. H. Dean Wade, incumbent City Council member, is a candidate for representing the Sage Brush Party. Active in civic and communi-- , ty affairs, the candidate also serves as a member of the Davis County Economic Development Council and as a council representative to the Fruit Heights planning commission. A resident of Fruit Heights, Wade previously served on the board of adjustments and was a member of a committee to draft the city master plan. He cites a deep concern for the future development and growth of six-ye- said. Wade said several areas of im- provements remain, including the need for a new city office and maintenance shop, expansion of recreational areas, addition of flood control facilities and storm sewers, maintenance of fiscally sound and conservative methods of operating. Wade is a civilian employee of the Air Force, working in a regional capacity with Air National Guard unites in the western United States. He and his wife Judy are parents of four children. Glen J. Hales, a candidate in Fruit Heights, said he believes citizens should be involved in community service to improve the quality of life in the community. Hales, a native of Orem, is employed by General Dynamics Corporation and has lived in Fruit Heights for the past four years while working at Hill Air Force Base as a field service engineer for General Dynamics. He holds masters degree in engineering administration from the University of Utah. He is an Eagle Scout and has worked for many years as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts. He fulfilled an LDS Church mission in Austria. He and his wife Carolyn are parents of four children. He has served on the advisory board to Spina Bifida of Utah, a support group for parents with children born with the spina bifida birth defect. He has also served as Republican Party voter district chairman in Fruit Heights. If elected, I will do my best to stay in tune with the desires of Fruit Heights residents and do what is best for the community, he said. I feel that Fruit Heights is a choice place to live and there will be an increasing demand on residential development in the next few years. I feel that by planning for this development now, we can make the development a positive factor that adds to the quality of life in Fruit Heights and does not add to our tax burden, he said.
