Lakeside Review ;) Wednesday, April 27, 1 983 ; ; U Enter Quilts in Annual Contest at University r Utah State University is starting to gather contestants for its annual quilt contest at the Festival of the American West July 29 through August 6 on the USU Campus. The USU Quilt Contest, organized by state and county extension agents, will feature $740 in prizes this year. Entries will be accepted in three categories. The Class I category still requires all work be hand embroidered, appliqued, pieced, or machine pieced. The Class II quilts category is for those which include machine embroidery and applique. Both Class I and Class II must be traditionally hand quilted. ' Class III, the display class, will be added to the contest this year. Display class quilts are those that do not fit under the other classifications. They will not be judged for prizes, but one will be selected from each of the states eight area contests for display at the Festival of the American West. Owners of the eight quilts will receive complimentary tickets to the festivals arts and crafts ij exhibition. The purpose of the contest is to promote traditional quilting as part of the heritage of the ' ; ' early Utah settlers. ROBERT CUSSIMANIO Two Recite Vows SUNSET Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cussimanio will make their home in Roy following a wedding trip to Lake Powell. They repeated nuptial vows Saturday, April 23, in the River-dal- e Mobile Estates Recreation Hall. A reception followed. The bride is the former Miss Julie Ann Tingen. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Tingen of 1524 N. 300 W., Sunset, and Mr. Albert J. Cussimanio of 190 Rose Drive, Clearfield, and the late Shirley A. Cussimanio. Attending the bride were the brides sister, Mrs. Pama Wynn, and the grooms sister, Mrs. Toni Ortega. Serving as best man was the grooms brother, Michael Cussimanio. The new Mrs. Cussimanio was graduated from Clearfield High School and is employed by Lil Audreys Health Spa. Cussimanio was also graduated from Clearfield High SChool and is employed at Hill Air. Force Base. Bethel 15 Captures State Contest Awards -International painting. CLEARFIELD Bethel 15 of Clearfield of the Order of Jobs Daughters, attended a statewide annual Grand Rally in Salt Lake City, and came away with several awards. In the competition area of the three-da- y event, Bethel 15 won a first place trophy for a skit, a second place trophy for ritual and a trophy for exhibition drill. Individual awards were presented to the following: Shannon Hansel, first place, photography, second place, crafts, third place, crafts; Laura Allison, third place in photography ; : Teresa Dubose, honorable mention for oil Patty Morse was presented a scholarship and Paula Kronsted a $300 scholarship. Bethel 15 guardian is Jacque Stireman with Ernest McKay as associate guardian. The object of the organization is to band together girls for spiritual and moral upbuilding, $400 to seek knowledge, to teach love of God, love of country, respect for its flag, love of home and family and reverence for the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, said Ms. Stireman. oa. cnLT.Df.:m.
