Caboose May Retire at Park FARMINGTON City council members will study whether or not to obtain a Union Pacific Railroad caboose for a concession stand, a storage shed, or for playground use at the city park. The railroad company is now in the process of selling or donating surplus cabooses, according to Councilman Brent Tennant. The only cost to the city for the caboose would be all-ste- el transportation of it, estimated at a few thousand dollars, he said. When Councilman Grant asked the council if it was something they really wanted to do, Tennant said the caboose could be used for a storage are near a baseball park or a refreshment stand. It could also be used for a public announcment system, he said, Un-germ- that could take the place of a small building. I just believe there should be a reason for doing it, Ungerman said. Some of the council members were worried the caboose may be more of an eyesore than a feature attraction. It was decided the citys Parks and Recreation Committee will look into the issue.
