At least five men won the lod to take home and savor. The show was a bit different this year. In prior years everyone had to struggle to see what Ren-shawas doing, in the mirror above the demonstration table on the stage. This year a television on eaJi side of the auditorium let every member of the audience have a good scat, allowing them to watch her hands as she prepared the food. With each recipe she had a special tip. Beginning with Potato-Spinac- h Strata, she prepared a meatless entree with hash brown potatoes and frozen spinach. She reminded the audience to squeeze the water out of the thawed spinach. I'm using a spring form pan 10 show how you can dress this dish up. Renshaw said as she patted the hash browns into the pan. To give the dish variety, use different flavors of spaghetti sjuees. Another recipe she demonstrated was a meat loaf. "I have plastic gloves in the kitchen. You can mix meat loaf with a fork, but guess how it is easier," she said. wore latex gloves , Renshaw From 7 North Carolina, where she began her career in training animals with her father. We had mostly hunting dogs around when I was young, she said, but my father also raised show dogs and I prefer training show dogs. Rogers says she loves animals. She has rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, cats, and dogs around her house most of the time. We even have a tree frog, and it gets as much love as the others. She has had the opportunity to tram some rather unusual breeds in her classes at Petsmart. The most unique looking dog Ive trained, she said, was a Borzio. It looks like a hairy Greyhound, but it is a very gentle dog that loves to be around people. The most difficult dogs to train are the smaller ones, according to Rogers. Small dogs feel like they have to prove themselves, especially around big dogs. They bark and make lots of noise, and sometimes interrupt the class. The bigger dogs are more relaxed, Rogers said. They know they could eat a small dog or rip the leg olf a person if they wanted, so there isnt as much pressure on them to show superiority. All dogs are capable of learning, Rogers said. After working with meat Renshaw cleans the table with 409 cleaner to disinfect it. She used Ore-Id- a frozen mashed potatoes in the recipe for garlic potatoes she placed around the baked meat loaf. The thing to remember when using them is they are too good to be instant and too fast to be homemade." Renshaw said. The delicious aroma teased the audience as the different dishes began to cook. Renshaw nearly forgot an ingredient that was still in the fridge. "You eould win one of these, so you want to make sure I put in Ive never had a dog in one of my classes that left untrained. Renshaw makes all of the recipes at home before using them in the cooking show. Of this year's recipes she found the Swiss Vegetable Medley was a favorite. Renshaw demonstrated an easy and clever method to melt chocolate chips. She placed the chocolate chips into a plastic bag with a zipper lock which was seated. The bag was then placed into a bowl filled with water and put into the microwave. As the water heats the chocolate melts. Remove the bag from the water and squeeze it to be sure the chips are all melted. Squeeze all of the chocoljte to a comer at the bottom of the bag, cut the tip olf the bag and it can be used as a pastry bag. Here are a few of the recipes she used.
