Both teams had played excellent ball all season long and wanted nothing more than to end the season with a clear slate. The game started with both teams a little tight as turnovers were given up on both sides. South Davis was getting to basket only by the back door while Kaysville shots were long shots with strong board play. Our offensive boards were the difference in the first half, said Kaysville Coach Jill havent been Sanduk. We With a minute gone in the final quarter the Spartans had increased their lead to 10 and appeared to be in total control but the Knights werent about to roll over and play dead. Jennifer Tsosie, Genie White, as well as Kirkpatrick, came alive and started to press again which seemed to bother the Spartans. Tsosie seemed especially adept at getting inside position where she scored all of her 12 points on offensive rebounds while White was hitting her 13 mostly from the 15 foot range to close the margin to four with 3:25 left in the game. Needing some strong re- bounding, Wangsgaard brought in Marcie Heaps, a seventh grader. I told her I just wanted her to go in and hit the boards not to worry about scoring. Usually she would say you must be kidding but today she let her actions speak for her. Her six straight points gave us some breathing room and her rebounding kept Tsosie out of the action. When the final buzzer went off the Spartans had registered their 11th victory of the season with a 0 margin. It should be noted this was a Junior High game and 70 points is a lot for most high school Til bet if Davis was still a four-ye- school she would be ar starting for the Darts. For the Spartans it was a 21 point half for Becky Trimble that gave them the victory. We just tried to deny her the ball, but you cant keep the really good players down all game long. I had hoped to hold her to just 20, but' the other 11 she got was the difference in the game, said Sanduk. She has the best jump that Ive ever seen in junior high ball, maybe in high school She handles the ball like a guard and just seems to move to the ball all the time. Most kids this age just stand and expect the ball to get to , them, "but not Becky. Both ends of the district should take a lot of pride in their programs as more than once officials doing the game have commented that this is the finest junior high program in the state as the score in this game would indicate.. all season and I felt if the boards we would win. As the first quarter came to an end Kaysville found themselves down by just 2 points. The second quarter went as the first with both teams running it and neither one being afraid to shoot. Kaysville went into a half court press which seemed to bother the Spartans, allowing teams to score. These two the Knights to take the lead for teams will be sending a lot of .the first time with three mi- fine ball players into the high nutes left in the first half. With school ranks next year.
