They include the Great Salt Lake Commission Advisory Council, the Utah State cities and Counties Highway Committee, the the waste disposal board, the North Davis Sewer Board, chairman of the Utah Association of Counties, and chairman of the Wasatch Front Regional council. Parry of Syracuse is seeking election to the Davis County School Board. Parry is a graduate of the University of Utah and has taught and coached in the Davis School District for nine years. In 1971, Parry was appointed to serve as the director of Indian affairs for Utah. He has served in that capacity for nine years. Parry said his experience as an educator and administrator in state government has provided him with valuable knowledge for the position he is seeking. As a taxpayer, he said he wants to see that district financial and other assets are Used in the most efficient manner. Parry has served on the state advisory committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, the board of directors of the Governors Interstate Indian Council and the board of directors of the Institute of American Indian Services at Brigham Young University. Parents should be involved directly in decisions concerning the schools their children are attending, said Kenneth H. Franck, candidate for the Davis School Board. What is needed is constant and direct exchange of views concerning school operations from those who are directly involved, he said, especially the school, childrens parents and their teachers. He said he is concerned about the current hiring practices of the district. He said that all job openings should be controlled entirely by a school district personnel office. The principals should no longer be involved in the hiring of teachers for their schools, he said. Franck is seeking the 3rd District seat on the School Board.
