Chief Clifford Russell feels that it is very important for the police to establish a good rapport with the youngsters of the community. Thats when Centerville first established a full time police force. He established extensive programs throughout the schools and started to get to know the children. He encourages his officers to do the same. The programs in the schools start with general introductions in kindergarten on up through drug abuse information programs for older students. The kindergarteners are introduced doing, Russell said. Why not work on the kids before trouble starts rather then just putting out the fires.
