One, Our Heroine conThe other Fo Dolla cerns a native woman, Bloody Mary, and a love affair between her daughter Liat and a young naval officer, Joe Cable. Joshua Logan, in collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein, mrnm & wrote the play. The music was composed by Richard Rogers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein. Joshua Logan directed the original Broadway production. South Pacific was an immediate success and has never been out of production since it opened on Broadway in 1949. The upcoming South Pacific is being produced by 'the Bountiful Utah East LDS Stake with Dorothy OBrien directing. An impressive list of experienced actors and singers have been cast in the principle roles. Nellie Forbush is played by Grace Henderson, Emile De Becque by Larry Nelson.
