WHITESIDES, i i who is leaving Kaysviile Elementary to become principal of the new Morgan Elementary School, was honored by the youngsters at a special assembly prior to the closing of school. After singing a song composed just for him, the students presented him with a quilt decorated with art from all of the classes. Mr. Whitesides attended Kaysviile Elementary when he was in grade school. He returned in 1969 as principal. He comes from a family of educators. His father, Emil Whitesides, was principal of Davis High School and his grandfather, E.M. Whitesides n was a Davis County educator. HE BEGAN his teaching career in 1957 at Centerville Elementary School where her taught for three years. After teaching three more years at Burton Elementary School, he was named principal of Verdeland Park Elementary well-know- School in 1961 In 1965 he transferred to Elementary Farmington School where he was principal for four years before coming to Kaysviile Elementary School in 1969. HE LIKES education as a I dont know of a job where you work with higher, nicer type people or in better surroundings than in school, he declared. Besides, I like kids. career. While facilities at the new Morgan Elementary School are the most modem and Mr. Whitesides feels that the kids havent changed much. Over the years Ive found that basically teaching remains the same. EGBERT (Mary Lynne) received her associate degree in nursing from Weber State College this week and her daughter, Tracy Lynne, graduated from Davis High. In addition Mrs. Egberts sister, Joy Petro, graduated from Layton High where she served as vice president of the school this past year. She graduated from Davis High School in 1959 and was employed at a graduate of the Kaysviile IS SHE four-yea- r Seminary, has participated in the state competition in Logan for two years with her 4-- demonstrations and has been active in work the past ten years. She plans to attend Utah State University in Logan this fall. Both mother and daughter are proud to be 1979 graduates.
