Its Lucky To Be Me will be the theme for the 1979 Miss Layton Pageant to be held in the Layton High School Auditorium on Saturday, June 30. DANA IS also a model for Auerbachs and a Charlies Girl for the Bon Marche. Kowley Drug is her sponsor. Michelle Marie Almond is the daughter of Mrs. Karen H. Almond, 1984 Mark Street, Layton. She is sponsored by the Hair Benders Beauty Salon. Michelle is 18 years old and a 1978 high honor graduate of Layton High. Serving as master of ceremony for the program will be KSL Radio personality Danny Cramer. ACCORDING TO Mrs. Ann Harris, pageant chairman, eleven girls will compete for the Layton title, they are: Vikki Black, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vince Black, 467 West 1875 North, Layton. She is 20 years old and a 1977 graduate of Layton High. WHILE ATTENDING WHILE AT Layton she was a membef of the Lancelles drill team, did,, costume design and iwas, chosen Roman Holidays Queen. Vikki has been a previous Miss Utah contestant where she won both a talent and swimsuit award. At present she is attending Weber State College where she has been a cheerleader for two years and was named Miss Weber State in 1978. A PHYSICAL education major she loves sports, cooking and dancing. She hopes to become a professional dancer and teacher. She will present a ballet jazz number in the pageant. Sponoring Vikki is Wasatch Sporting Goods. Ginger McFarland, 18, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Renald R. McFarland, 2101 Ridge Rd., Layton. She is a 1979 honor graduate of Layton High. WHILE ATTENDING Lay-to- n she was a member and secretary of the Lancelles drill team and received many certificates of achievement in the business area. She is presently working as a secretary and plans to continue her education at Weber State College majoring in business. Ginger will perform a dance routine in the pageant. Her hobbies include piano, sewing, tennis and bicycling. Gingers sponsor is Olsen f, Lay-to- n she was active in music and drama with several lead parts in school productions and was chosen best actress as a junior and senior. She was also a member of the Laytones and Acappela Choir. The past year she attended Weber State College where she held a 40 grade average and was named to the Deans list for three quarters. She has had special training in piano and voice and will present a piano selection in the talent competition. Michelles hobbies include sewing, music and drama. SHERI Christensen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Mill Road, Layton. Sheri is 18 years old and a 1979 honor graduate of Layton High where she served as student body secretary and was a member of the Honor, Society and Acappella Choir.' She has also served as a northern Davis County Christensen, 62 and DANA PLANS to attend the U. of U. where she will study speech pathology audiology. MarKaye enjoys sewing, cooking, cartoon drawing, basketball and swimming. She has received special training in music and will present a piano selection in the pageant. Jamie is a 1979 graduate of Layton High and is being sponsored by Anns Fabric Loft. While in school Jamie was a cheerleader and served as a class officer. She has had special training in gymnastics and will present a modern dance and gymnastic routine in the talent portion of the pageant. . ' ? VIKKI LYN BLACK of the Lancelles drill team, chosen best personality of the MICHELLE MARIE ALMOND senior class, awarded first place in the Layton High Talent Show and was chosen Miss Supersensational at the Utah State Drill Competition, KRIS VANKAMPEN is also a 1979 graduate of Layton High where she was a high honor roll student, member of the Lancelles drill team, active in drama and president of the ski club her junior year. Kris has had special training in dance, drama, and piano. Her hobbies and was second runner-u- p to Miss Drill Team Utah. Denise is presently attending the U. of U. where she is studying communica-tionbroadca- st journalism interests include jogging, reading, skiing, science and physical therapy. She will perform a jazz dance number for her Daeeant talent. KRIS PLANS to attend the U. of U. majoring in psychology and going on to medical school and becoming a child psychologist. Mrs. Bennett is also active in church and civic affairs, including serving as a member of the Utah State Fair Board, and the Logan City Zoning and Planning Commission.
