Penrose cabin in Farmington is being moved for the third time due to construction on the site where it is located. : ACCORDING to Capt. Irene Olsen of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Helen Mar Miller Camp, the cabin will be moved on property donated by Mrs. June Stayner of Farmington. : .The new home for the cabin is directly east of the plot on which it now stands. The LDS Church will move the cabin sary to move it. It was torn down and Milton M. Hess marked each log so it could be rebuilt. Olena S. Rice, Jeanette M. Smith, Annie C. Miller and Margaret S. Hess met with Davis County Commissioners who gave the DUP camp permission to place the cabin on the courthouse grounds. The town awarded money to help in the rebuilding and the restoration was completed in and erect a fence around it with a gate opening onto the church parking lot. THE CHARLES W. Penrose fiabin was built in 1861 by his friends in Farmington. It was a typical pioneer home of the times and was located west of ! the Rock Chapel on North Main Street. ; Mr, Penrose was a dedicat- missionary and church writer of song and ed LDS a result of the fierce east winds that blew in his door and windows and nearly froze his wife and infant child, he wrote the song, (Blow Gently Ye Wild Winds, My Loved Ones Are There. prose. On April 24, 1927, Pres. Heber J. Grant of the LDS Church, came to dedicate the building. Utah governor, Henry H. Blood, and many other dignitaries attended the ceremony with a large gathering of interested people, members of the Penrose family and DUP representatives of the Central Camp in Salt Lake City. IN SEPTEMBER 1956, the cabin was moved from the courthouse lot onto the church property east of the Rock Chapel where it now stands. At this time it was dedicated by H. Burns Stayner of the Davis Stake Presidency, and unveiled by Charles Penroses Vera Penrose Gray. On Oct. 5, 1968, the cabin was placed on the Daughters of Utah Pioneers historical register listed as Better Way To Lose Weight No. 349. graduates. High standards Margaret S. Mr. Ainscough received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from BYU in 1977. As an undergraduate, he also studied mechanical, chemical and civil engineering. At this time, he was elected to the prestigious engineering fraternity, Tau Beta Phi, because of his superior academic performance. HAS HE accepted employment in the field of energy in Denver, Colo. His immediate work will be in engineering after which he will be moved to an executive management position. Mr. Ainscough served as an LDS missionary in Denmark. While there, because of his command of the Danish language, he was asked several times to be an interpreter for visiting authorities. BESIDES BEING active in his church, he has also taken an active part affairs. MR. AINSCOUGH is also a life member of the Society for Early Historic Archaeology founded by Dr. John A. Wid-sto- e.
