Briggs Succumbs At 94 George Edward Briggs, of Bountiful, died May 1979 at Lakeview Hospital. as manager for the Davis County Furniture Company 94, 10, and was a licensed mortician for Davis County. He also managed a farm. HE WAS born in Bountiful on March 6? 1885 to Ephraim Briggs and Mary Evans SURVIVORS include Married Cora Barlow on March 31, 1906 in the Salt, Lake Temple. She died Jan. 3, 1978. HE SERVED a mission for the LDS Church from Was active in both ward and stake capacities. He was charter member and president of Kiwanis. Club, mayor and president of Town Board in Layton. He resigned the position of mayor to become town marshall for six .. years. After Layton became a first class city, he was chief of police for six more years. He spent 25 years in the business, six years three sons, Louis Briggs, Seattle, Wash.; Barlow Briggs, Salt Lake City; Charles R. Funeral Services Michale Valentine Magana, 67, of 529 Kingston, Layton, died Thursday, May 17, 1979 in St. Benedicts Hospital in Ogden after an extended ill- ness. HE WAS bom Nov. 11,1911 in Dewey, Okla., a son of Bartolo and Mary Magana. On Oct. 10, 1958, he married Maxine L. Litschke in Tulsa, Okla. MR. MAGANA had been an aircraft mechanic at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in March of 1975 after 33 years of service. He served with the U.S. Air Force during world war II and the Korean War. HE WAS a member of the Catholic Church. He belonged to the American Legion Post No. 4 of Enid, Okla., the Disabled American Veterans of Clearfield and the NCO Club at Hill Air Force Base. Surviving are his widow of Layton; one son and four B. Michale Mrs. Layton; Magana, Michele Murry, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Claudia Schmidt, Miss Mona Magana, both of Layton; Mrs. Candace Ham-moClinton; one stepson, daughters, n, Leo G. Bishop Arlyn Smedley, Blain Gailey HE WAS bom Oct. 12, 1891 in Menan, Ida., a son of James Henry and Sarah Mirah Carr Byington. On April 4, 1923, he married Florence Wanda Haousley in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Dec. 25, 1957. William Smith Gibson, the of 192 Edgehill Circle, Layton, died Friday, May 18, 1979 at in Idaho until 15 years ago when he moved to Layton. He attended the schools in Menan, Ida. MR. BYINGTON was a member of the Layton 11th LDS Ward. He held the office of a high priest. He served in the U.S. Army during world war I. SURVIVING are three sons, Thayle L. Gerald Byington, Layton; L. Byington, Woodland, Calif.; Wendell H. 14 Clinton; Byington, grandchildren and 21 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers and two sisters, Clarence Byington, Donald Byington, both of Lakeview, Ore.; Archie Byington. 1, 1950. She died June 3, 1972. MR. GIBSON was retired from Hill Air Force Base after 30 years of service. He worked for E & M Ford Sales and Layton Ford Sales since 1952.
