Show Visit The Schools. The following is not original with the editor, but it is nevertheless true, and should its ad-- vice be followed we would know more about our schools, and our presence in the school room oc- casionally would not only bring ' pleasure to us, but would be to the instructors and an incentive to the pupils to do their best: i "You hear a great deal about car schools, talk much about jthem, think some about them, and peradventure wonder not a ; little more about them than if they were in China. How many heads of families, parents, busi-ms- s men, men of minds, ever cross the threshold of the school room? How many ever offer a word of encouragement to teacher or scholar and let them know by your presence at least occasionally, in the school room that you are an interested party really desirous that they should prosper, and that you have their best welfare at heart? How many have kindly counseled and advised with him, showing you are with him in the great work, wishing him well and cheering with a "God speed." How few methinks, can answer in the affirmative, and yet you often hear of the school and feel that it is not what it should be, and what you wish it was. Will it help to be continually finding fault, continually growling, and denouncing it with almost every breath? and when some trivial or even grave mistake is mi'te, will it better matters to pompously parade the same before the public. ? Things are not often just as we would like to have them, and surrounding circumstances not always as we imagine or hear they are, and very often if we knew the exact condition and state of affairs our minds and opinions would be the reverse to what they were without a knowledge of facts. Now this is merely offered as a hint, and while we presume many will read it, it is hojed some will think pbout it, and at least a few be induced to act upon it and visit our schools at least Park Record occasionally." i Don'ts For dirls ' Don't be ashamed of your parents. They may be unlearned and dull, but they gave you the chance to become what you are. Honor them before all men. Don't neglect little deeds while dreaming of great ones, Don't be spoiled. Permit none to persuade you there are none so lovely, so witty, or so wise. Be sweetly grateful, but not proud. Don't be a prig. Girls who are never a little foolish, are always dull. Don't chatter. Babbling is baneful. Gigglers should be confinepunished by solitary ment. Don't regulate your behavior Be as modest by geography. at the seashore as at home. Don't be good because you must, but because you should. Don't form hysterical attachments for other girls. It is silly. Such 'oves die very suddenly, frequently leaving a trail of ridicule behind. "Adore" only God. Don't take acquaintances into your confidence. Some very pleasant young persons are good listeners, but more talented as gossips. Don't fib about little things. It is futile, and foolish, and inevitably creates distrust. Don't boast It is vulgar and invariably cheapens you. Don't purchase any pleasure at the price of another girl's pain.
