Show NEWS NOTES FROM NEWCASTLE I Mildisd TuUU t The dedication of the New- ( castle reservoir and tour of the , valley Friday was very successful. success-ful. Many state and county oKl- dais and many former residents , of this area were present for the event. Richard Jones, president of the Newcastle Reservoir Company, Com-pany, gave a brief history of local lo-cal water companies and their final consolidation in order to get the dam. There were many speakers and among those representing re-presenting the various agencies diligent in promoting the project pro-ject were Charles Redd and Geo. D. Clyde of the Utah Water and Power Board; J. Taylor Allen of the A. S. C. Joe Atkin of the F. H. A. and John Bovden. attorney for the company. The dedicatory prayer was by Charles Hulet of Newcastle. Alonzo Christensen was in charge of the program. The various organizations of the ward worked together to make the Pioneer Day celebration celebra-tion here a successful event. The Primary sponsored the children's Parade at ten in the morning. Then all assembled at the Warren War-ren Piatt residence for races sponsored by the M. I. A. The Sunday School sold refreshments. After the celebration here many residents atended the' various other events of the area, the Centennial Cen-tennial Celebration In Beaver, the fights In Cedar City and the Rodeo in Enterprise. Mrs. Mary Forsyth and Mrs. Lucille Stingle of California visited vis-ited relatives and friends here on the 24th. Mrs. Florence Adams and son David of Norwich, Connecticut, are visiting In town with Mrs. Adams' sister. Mrs. Lea Knell and Mr. Russell Chirstensen and their families. ' Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Reber of Meaquite, Nev., spent the 24th here as guests of the Norman Hulet. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Knell and James Thornton of Provo, former form-er residents of Pinto and New-castle, New-castle, were here for the reservoir dedication. Mrs. VeRue Sandstrom and children of Eureka and Jerome Tullls and son Howard of Salt Lake City spent most of the week visiting Mrs. Ida Tullis and other relatives. Mrs. Nellie Hart and Mr. and Mrs. Truston Hart spent the week end at Navajo Lake, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Neilson and daughter Mary of Washington. Utah were week end visitors at the Melvin Hulet home. Mrs. Effle Beacham is at Grand Canyon where she has employment for the summer. Many of our people attended the Stake Elders Party held recently re-cently at the Veyq swimming pool. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fife. Leo Knell and Mr. and Mrs. Stirling Tullis attended sessions at the St. George temple Thursday. The Women's Club held its meeting Thursday evening at the home of Grace Beacham. Mrs. Bert Carpenter of Cedar City spoke on "Meal Planning." |
