Show Horseshoers conduct good tournament CEDAR CITY- The third annnual Cedar City horseshoe open was conducted last Saturday with several local players falling to players from out of state. Over 70 players from Utah, Nevada and California attended the event which saw several local players doing very well. Class A action saw local champion Dennis Ohms, pitch an amazing 53 percentage for ringers only to fall to defeat to Gerry Kloepfer from Yucaipa, Calif. Both players were undefeated going into the final match of the night in which they were forced to play in the dark. Kloepfer captured first place honors, with Ohms second and Gordon Lytle from Eagle Valley, Nev., third place. The woman's Class A saw Lynn Wood from Caliente Nev., defeat Eve Culverwell, also from Caliente. Class B saw Bruce Crane from Salt Lake City capture that title, with second place going to Harold Hammond from Eagle Valley and third place to Nober Zuniga :.' from Enoch. In women's class B Paula Drewes defeated Carol Ohms, with both players from Cedar. Class C action saw Steve Culverwell from Caliente emerging as the victor, with second and third place honors going to Craig Zuf elt and Barry Johnson respectively The Class D title was captured by Afton, Fawcett of Hurricane, with second place going to Tim Olson of Panaca and third place to Dan Gary of St. George. Class E featured Gyde Higbee of Cedar City winning first place honors, with Bob Brown of Hurricane taking second place. Allen Heaton of Cedar City took third place in the event. |
