Show Nathaniel Gardner Funeral Services Held Oct. 15 Funeral services for Nathaniel (Nat) Gardner, 83, were held in the Cedar City First ward chapel Saturday, Oct. 18. Mr. Gardner died Wednesday, Oct. 15 in a Salt Lake hospital of causes incident to age. Presiding at the services was Howard Stokes, member of the First ward bishopric. The program pro-gram was conducted as follows: ,Song, 'That Beautiful Land" by a mixed quartet composed of Myles Walker, Ray Cosslett, Zel-ma Zel-ma Lunt, and Elois McConnell, accompanied by Beth Leigh. Invocation, C. William Macfar-lane. Macfar-lane. Talk, Malln Cox, Pine Valley. Solo, 'Tm A Pilgrim," by Mr. Walker, accompanied by Mrs. I L Talk, Bishop William Snow. Remarks, Bishop Parson U. Webster. Song, "Lead Me Gently Home," mixed quartet Benediction, George A, Wood. Prelude and postlude organ music was furnished by Mrs. Bernella Jones. Dedication of the grave at the Cedar City cemetery was by Bishop Bish-op Dean Gardner, of the Pine Valley Val-ley ward. Mr. Gardner was born Dec. 5, 1869, in St. George, a son of Rob-ert Rob-ert and Mary Ann Carr Gardner. In his early years he was a livestock live-stock raiser and farmer in Pine Valley, Washington county. After Af-ter moving to Cedar City in 1916 he was appointed city marshal in this community, a position he held for 10 years. In 1926 he was employed by the Utah Parks and Union Pacific Paci-fic Railroad company as a special agent and night patrolman. He remained in their employ until he was 77. He married Rose Bracken in the St. George Temple, on April 3, 1W. Mrs. Gardner died Dec. 13, 1937. Survivors include two sons, Thurlow Gardner, Cedar City and Ralph M. Gardner, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Three daughters, Mrs. Lee E. (Ercle) Hopkins, and Mrs. Lewis T. (Lucile) Williams, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Norman (Ella) Sherman, Southgate, Cal.; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three sisters and a brother, bro-ther, Mrs. Annie McDonald, Ka-nab; Ka-nab; Mrs. Maude Baker, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Alice Snow, St. George, and Angus Gardner, Lehi. |
