Show Serviceman Weds Local Miss in State of Washington Word was received in Cedar City Tuesday evening, of the marriage of Miss Juanita Naegle and Cpl. Walter P. Merryweather, in the state of Washington, where Cpl. Merryweather is stationed sta-tioned with the armed forces. Cpl. Merryweather is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Merryweather. Merry-weather. and his bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Naegle, all of Cedar City. Walter enlisted in the armed forces on August 16, 1948, after graduating from the Cedar high school in May of that year. He W'as to have been released from duty on August 16 of this year, and he and Miss Naegle had planned to be married on Sept. 2. Those plans were wrecked, however, as a result of the Korean Kor-ean war. When Cpl. Merryweath-er Merryweath-er was notified that he would leave very soon for overseas duty du-ty with elements of the second division, Miss Naegle left Monday Mon-day by air for Ft. Lewis, Wash. Their parents were notified Tuesday Tues-day of the marriage of the young couple. It is expected that Walter will leave for overseas duty very soon but no definite word has been received. The young bride graduated from the Cedar City high school at the same time her husband did. She then attended the BAC for a time and has since been employed at the Bank of Southern South-ern Utah. |
