Show Baging Fire Destroys Welding Shop, Car All of the equipment of the 'Cedar City fire department was -called out at 3:30 Friday after-noon after-noon for a fire, which In a mat-ter mat-ter of minutes, almost completely destroyed the' welding shop on North Main street. Flames were leaping from the Toof when the engines arrived, and the fire was quickly put out. .A 1942 Nash Automobile which was in the shop at the time is almost a total loss. The fire started as John Stock was welding near the axle of the car. According to Stock, grease underneath the car caught fire, .and by the time he could get out from beneath the car, the entire roof of the garage was in flames. The car is owned by M. D. Wil-kinson, Wil-kinson, of Long Beach, Califoria. He and Mrs. Wilkinson were driving through town on their way home from Jamestown, N. D. They had Just stopped in the .garage for some repairs on the car. The automobile was insured .against fire. Damage to the garage and the car is estimated at $3,000 by Fire Chief M. F. Grames. Stock had Just recently bought the business from William Matheson. Math-eson. It was not covered by insurance. in-surance. Matheson's only loss was personal tools which were still in the shop. The property is owned by Thelma Stratton. |
