Show Parowan Couple Has Been Married Sixty-one Years Mr. and Mrs. William U. Thornton of Parowan celebrated the sixty-first anniversary of their marriage on Thanksgiving Day, which was Mrs. Thornton's seventy-eighth birthday. Their wedding anniversary was on November No-vember 17. The couple, with members of their family enjoyed a reunion at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Farnsworth at St. George. Mr. Thornton, now 83, still enjoys good health. He was able to raise a garden during the past summer and still milks his cow and cares for other animals. Mrs. Thornton is well known throughout southern Utah as a practical nurse, having engaged In that work for many years. Both are workers in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are the parents of 14 children, 10 still living. They are Mrs. Nelta Taylor and Merrill Thornton, Parowan; Mrs. Nancy Farnsworth and Byron U. Thornton, Thorn-ton, St. George; Wm. E. Thorn-ton, Thorn-ton, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Jean Wlghtman. Sprlngvllle; Mrs. Sylvia Syl-via Trelease, Mrs. Clara Allen, Mrs. Harriet Hicks and Mrs. Af-Ton Af-Ton Werner, Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple also have 42 grandchildren grand-children and 20 great grandchildren. |
