Show Services honor Herschel A1. Neeley ? Funeral services for Herschel Her-schel Morgan Neeley, 74, were held Tuesday at the Cedar Fourth Ward Chapel with Bishop George F. Rhoades presiding. pre-siding. The Cedar City businessman and civic leader died at his home early Saturday morning, morn-ing, Sept. 29 of natural causes. A retired businessman, he was, for many years, owner and operator of Westside Grocery In Cedar City. Prominent Prom-inent in music circles, he was a member of the internationally internation-ally famous Lions Club Quartet Quar-tet of Cedar City, which competed com-peted in competition in Mexico Mex-ico City, Chicago and in New York City. He appeared in many public functions and sang for numerous funeral services. For many years, he was a tenor soloist In the community's annual presentation presenta-tion of 'Handel's "Messiah" and was a member of the HERSCHEL M. NEELEY I "Master Singers," a male singing group who won the reputation as Cedar City's ambassadors of good will throughout the intermountain area. He was a past president of the Lions Club and a veteran vet-eran of World War I. Active in the LDS Church, he served in the Bishopric of s the Cedar Third Ward and was for many years a member mem-ber of the Cedar Stake High Council. He was born April 13, 1899 ' in Riverdale, Idaho, a son of Armenius Miller and Emma Mecham Neeley. He married 1 Ethel Erickson Oct. 26, 1920 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Survivors include his widow, a son, Donald, Price; two daughters, Mrs. Max (Shirley) Cowan and Mrs. Klien (Patsy) Rollo, both of Cedar City, and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle N. Wright Preston, Idaho. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren grand-children and eight greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary. S. Douglas Wood was speaker speak-er at the services. Family prayer was by Klien Rollo, the invocation by President A. E. Whatcott and the benediction was by Stanley Shakespeare. Dedication of the grave at the Cedar City cemetery was by Blaine Stapley. Musical selections included a vocal trio "Where Love Is," by granddaughters, Mrs. Terri N. Lott, Ginny Lee Neeley, and Kay Dawn Neeley, acompanied by their mother, Mrs. Donald Neeley; an organ medley by Reed Berrett; a vocal solo, "Oh My Father," by Ralph Hafen, accompanied by Mr. Berrett and a vocal solo, "Beside Still Waters," Wat-ers," by Bishop Blaine Johnson, accompanied by his wife, Lola Johnson. |
