Show ? t -!V',. i Services held for Alice (Delia) Gower Alice Jane (Delia) Perry Gower, a lifetime resident of Cedar City, died Sunday morning June 8, 1975 of causes incident ot age. Mrs. Gower was born March 3, - 1889 in Cedar City to Joseph Moroni and Elizabeth Jones Perry. She married George Henry Gower March 3, 1921 in Parowan, Iron County. Mr. Gower died November 13, 1955. ALICE GOWER George Clyde, Rockville, Maryland; two daughters; Mrs. George H. (Audree) Slack Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Don P. (Lou Jean) Williams, Roy, Utah; 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one brother. Moroni Perry Cedar City, . Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday June 11th in the LDS Fifteenth Ward Chapel. The family prayer at the mortuary-was mortuary-was offered by George II. Slack. Bishop Don Heap conducted the services with Marilyn Perry playing the prelude and postlude music. The invocation was offered by O. Kent Hulet, benediction by Steven E. Anderson and Reed Summers dedicated the grave. Speakers were a niece, Arvilla H. Day who gave a life sketch and a nephew, Leland M. Perry with closing remarks by Bishop Don Mrs. Gower was a member of the LDS Church. She received her education in Cedar City Schools and graduated from the Branch Normal School in 1909 with 18 classmates. She was a member of the fifty year club. She attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she received her teaching certificate. cer-tificate. She worked many years in the Relief Society as a member of the quilt committee. As a young girl, "Delia" as she was known to her family and friends, spent many summers at the Perry Ranch on Cedar Mountain working at the dairy. She became an expert butter and cheese maker. She was also an expert seamstress. After her family was raised she spent her time making beautiful pieced quilts, hooked rugs and many other kinds of beautiful hand work. Survivors include three sons: Reid, Warren both Cedar City; Heap. Musical selections consisted con-sisted of two vocal solos, "Hills of Home" by Ralph Hafen and "I Walk Today Where Jesus Walked" by Christine Win-terrose. Win-terrose. Grandsons served as pallbearers and the flowers were carried by Delia's relief society friends. Interment was in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary. |
