Show Funeral Services Conducted j For M. L. Skougard Funeral services for M. L. (Zclli Skougard, 77, were held Tuesday aftenoon in the First Ward chapel. Mr. Skougard died Sunday morning in the Iron County Hospital following a long period of ill health. Conducting the services was Bishop Bruce Matheson, with Itha Mortensen at the organ for pre lude and postlude music. Speakers Speak-ers were W. Clair Rowley and Alma Evans with brief remarks by Bishop Matheson. Prayer at the Skougard home was offered by Harley W. Dalton, the invocation at the services was by Ross aylor. the benediction by Howard Joseph and dedicating dedicat-ing the grave in the Parowan City cemetery wa.-i R. Taylor Miller. Mil-ler. Musical numbers consisted of two V(K-al solos "Pastures of the Soul." and "Abide with Me," by Christine Winterrose, accompanied accompan-ied by Marilyn Perry, both of Cedar Ce-dar City. Martin Laell Skougard was born in Parowan Jan. 9, 1885, a son of Martin and Clara Winn Skougard. He married Ptiscilla Hyatt Doc. 12, 1919 at Parowan. In his early life he worked on the railroad in Oregon for two years, was a ranger on the DixiCi Forest for five years at the time, it was first formed, and was a member of the Colorado State Militia for some time.. He served as watermaster for Parowan City for 17 years and was local weather wea-ther observer for 22 years. He and his brother Farl F. engaged In the honey making business for many years, maintaining a large colony of bees and was bee inspector for the county for a long time. Survivors include his widow, two brothers. Earl F. and Thomas C. Skougard. Parowan; three sisters, sis-ters, Mrs. Albert Benson, Parowan; Paro-wan; Mrs. Maude Allen, Camas, Wash, and Mrs. Lee Bressler, Victor, Vic-tor, Idaho, all of whom were here for the funeral services. |
