Show LAST RITES ARE HELD FOR, THREE PAROWAN LAVIES : a Funeral Services Set Saturday for Mrs. Helen A. Taylor Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Parowan West ward chapel for Mrs. Helen Aurella Hyatt Taylor, 82, who passed away at her home al 9:30 Wednesday morning. Her death resulted from causes incident inci-dent to age, following an illness of several weeks. The services will be under the direction of the West ward bishopric bish-opric and burial will be in the Parowan city cemetery.. Mrs. Taylor was born in Parowan, Paro-wan, Dec. 7, 1867, a daughter of John Smith and Martha Patty Newberry Hyatt, and spent her entire life in that community. Shr married Thomas Taylor in 1889. Her husband died in 1934. They were the parents of 11 children, 10 of them living, five sons and five daughters. They are as follows: Clayton, Ross F., Waldo and LaVar Taylor, Mrs. Velma Goodnow and Mrs. Hattie Harris, Parowan; Isora Pu-cil, Pu-cil, Cedar City; Mrs. Viola Me-cham, Me-cham, Salt Lake City, Mrs. Mabel Hunter, Sacramento, Calif, and Alma Taylor Los Angeles. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services Held Saturday For Mrs. M. A.Paxton w Funeral services were held for Mrs. Maria Lowder Paxton, whose passing was reported last week, on Saturday afternoon in the Parowan Par-owan West ward chapel with Joseph E. Ward presiding. The speakers were Arthur Joseph and Pres. W. Clair Rowley with closing clos-ing remarks being made by Mr. Ward. Sentiments were read by Mis. Minnie A. Burton. The opening prayer was offered by Jess W. Guymon, the benediction bene-diction was offered by Hugh L. Adams, and the grave was dedicated dedi-cated by a son-in-law, Theodore Taylor of Provo. The musical program consisted of the following numbers: a violin vio-lin solo "I Love You Truly" by a granddaughter Beth Macfar-lane Macfar-lane of Ogden; a vocal solo "Sun-shine "Sun-shine In My Soul" by Zola Qulst, with Ramona Mitchell at the piono: a vocal solo, "Star of the East" by Lola Macfarlane with Beth Macfarlane playing the violin vio-lin obligato, and the closing song "Good night and Good Morning" by Zola Quist. Last Rites Held In Parowan For Sarah A. Stevens Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon in the Parowan Paro-wan West ward chapel for Mrs. Sarah Ann Eyre Stevens, 84, who died-Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Hulet in Parowan. Mrs. Stevens had been ill for four months of causes incident to age. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed by Joseph E. Ward of the West ward bishopric. The opening prayer was offered by Daniel Crawford, the closing one by a brother, Parley Eyre, and the grave was dedicated by a son, Bishop Walter G. Stevens. The opening and closing songs, "The Flowerland" and "Come Unto Me", respectively, were ren-deied ren-deied by a mixed quartet, consisting con-sisting of Verl Taylor, Ramona Mitchell, Joan Bayles and Kent Marsden, with Itha Mortensen at the piano. Other musical numbers num-bers were a duet "In the Upper Garden" by Vivian Marshall and Sylvia Davis of Minersville; a vocal solo "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" by Rula D. Or-ton, Or-ton, accompanied by Mary Lyman. Ly-man. Speakers were Harley W. Dal-tor- and Barbara M. Adams with closing remarks by Joseph E. Ward. Mrs. Stevens was born on Sept. 13, 1865, at Parowan, a daughter daugh-ter of John and Sarah Ann Gil-lins Gil-lins Eyre, Utah pioners. She was married to John Stevens on Jan. 26, 1884 and has lived in Parowan Paro-wan all of her life. Mr. Stevens died in May, 1934. An active member of the L D S church, she served as a counse. loi in the ward Relief Society, was a visiting teacher for more than 50 years, and worked in the Primary Association. She also was a member of the Genealogical Gen-ealogical society. She was the mother of 12 children, child-ren, seven of whom are living. They are Clair, Edwin and Orien Stevens and Mrs. Sarah Hulet, Parowan; Lorena Davis, Circle-ville; Circle-ville; John Stevens. Cowley, Wyoming, Wy-oming, and Walter S. Stevens, Byron, Wyoming. Survivors also Include 42 grandchildren and 62 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Francette Wilcock. Cowley, Wyo.. and a brother, Parley Evre, of Stockton. Utah. Burial was In the Parowan City cemeterey. |
