Show BRUCE CRIPPS, 15 STRUCK BY CAR, VIES OF INJURIES J BRUCE CRIPPS w Bruce Cripps, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cripps, and popular Cedar City high school student, died early Sunday morning of Injuries he received in an automobile - pedestrian pedes-trian accident in front of his home Friday evening. The accident vic tim died without regaining consciousness, con-sciousness, in spite of the fact thaf. X-rays failed to reveal a skull fracture. frac-ture. The accident occurred as Bruce was returning to his home Friday evening after having spent the day working on the B. A. C. farm west of town. He had returned to town in a pick-up truck with the other employees of the farm. The truck had been stopped in front of the Cripps home to let Bruce out, and as it pulled away, he apparently darted across the street toward his home without noticing a car approaching ap-proaching from the opposite direction. direc-tion. It was raining at the time, and apparently the youth in turning his face away from the rain did not see the approaching car driven by H. R. Kesler, and ran into the side of the automobile, the front door striking him on the head. Since the boy stepped from behind the car In which he had been riding, Kesler did not see him until almost the Instant of the crash. Kesler was said to have been driving at about 25 miles per hour at the time. The Cripps boy was knocked unconscious, un-conscious, having suffered a severe concussion and lacerations about the head. He was rushed to the hospital hospi-tal for treatment but did not regain consciousness. Bruce was bom in Cedar City, May 5, 1932, a son of Clarence and Mabel Dover Cripps, and has lived here all his life. He 1s survived by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, sis-ters, Chester. Keith, Gary, Lerue, Richard and Brent Crlipps, njrid Cleone Hlrschl, all of Cedar City, and Mrs. Lois Hulet, Flagstaff, Arizona; Ariz-ona; three grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cripps, Hurricane: and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Dover, Cedar City. Funeral service were conducted In the Third ward chapel Wednesday afternoon with Bishop's councillor Fernlelgh Gardner presiding. Preliminary organ music was provided pro-vided by Frank Van Cott, and the musical program was as follows: Vocal duet. "Jesus Lover of My Soul", by Ray Cosslett and Mylcs Walker, accompanied by Mrs. Beth Leigh; vocal solo, "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose", by Chauncey Macfarlane, accompanied by Mrs. Leigh; vocal solo, "All Thru The Night," by Mrs. Elaine Southwlck, accompanied by Mrs. Bernella Jones and a vocal solo. "In the Garden," by Herschell Neeley, accompanied by Mrs. Shirley N. Cowan. Speakers at the services were Os-cor Os-cor J. Hulet, and Stake President, David L. Sargent, with brief remarks re-marks by councillor Gardner. In vocation was by George W. Grlm-shaw, Grlm-shaw, benediction by I. E. Riddle, dedication of the grave by Samuel F. Leigh. |
