Show Resolutions of Sympathy. On the opening of Judge Lindsay's department of the district court at 10 o'clock, March 31, the members of the bar of Silver Bow county were assembled assem-bled in large numbers and adopted resolutions res-olutions expressing sorrow and regret over the death of W. W. Dixon, jr., and extending sympathy and condolence to the gTief stricken parents. Judges Lindsay and Clancy occupied the bench together and the former called for the report of the committee j which had previously been appointed to j draft suitable resolutions. Ex-Chief j Justice W. Y. Pemberton, chairman of i the committee, arose and read the fol-i fol-i lowing; "Whereas, Death has again invaded the ranks of our profession and has j removed from our association and our j fellowship our young brother, William ' W. Dixon, jr., who was just entering j upon his professional career, who was ' the only child of the Hon. William j Wirt Dixon, the Nestor of the Montana i bar, universally respected and honored for his ability, professional integrity and nobility of character; who was the idol of his parents and who gave promise prom-ise of achieving success and fame at the bar and an enviable position as a j citizen of the state: therefore, be it "Resolved, That we deplore the loss which has been sustained by the profession pro-fession and the community in which he was reared in the death of our young brother. I "Resolved, That we extend to the grief-stricken parents our most pro-I pro-I found sympathy on account of the great affliction visited upon them by the removal of their only son. who was I the pride of their hearts, and in whom all their hopes and ambitions centered. I "Resolved. That this honorable court j bo. and is hereby reo.uested. to order j these resolutions spread upon a page of its records as a lasting testimonial of the respect we entertained for our departed brother and of our deep regret re-gret for his death, as well as on account ac-count of our profound sympathy for his parents. "Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions, reso-lutions, be presented to the parents of the deceased. Respectfullv submitted, "W. Y. PEMBERTON, "EDWARD N. HARWOOD, "JOHN .1. M'HATTON. "WILLIAM SCALLON." Judge Lindsay, speaking for the court, said: "The court concurs in the resolutions just presented, directs that they be entered upon a page to be set apart for that purpose, and extends' to the honored members of the bar thug afflicted its sympathy." As a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased both departments of the court then adjourned until 2 o'clock in the afternoon. |
