Show MAJOR PARXELL DEAD. A hero of the Cival War, an Irishman Irish-man of illustrious name as well as fame, died in San Francisco last week, Major William R. Parncll, U. S. A., a cousin of Parnell, the Irish statesman, and a winner of the Medal of Honor awarded by the Government for bravery. brav-ery. Major Parnell was a native of Dublin and was 74 years old. He won the Medal of Honor in the campaigns against the Nez Perce Indians in a tattle tat-tle in which another Irishman, Sergeant Ser-geant Michael McCarthy, also played heoric part, and was similarly honored. |
