Show HILLTOP TIMES TIMES 11 Sept. 22, 2011 NEWS BRIEFS Persons with Disabilities Annual Awards Luncheon The Persons with Disabilities group will be hosting their Annual Awards Luncheon Thursday, Oct. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Club Hill. The luncheon will host speaker Ken Reid, an independent consultant working with independent living centers, vocational rehabilitation and the VA and a championship wheelchair bowler. The focus of the luncheon will be 'Ability is What Matters". Lunch will be served and is $11 for Club Hill members, $13 for non members. Legal Office appointments now needed for assistance Please note that the Base Legal Office (OO-ALC/JA) will be going to an appointment system for legal assistance. Staff will no longer be seeing legal assistance clients on a walk-in basis. The office has begun the process of setting up appointments. Will executions will be held on Fridays by appointment only. Please contact Brindy Starks at the Legal Office at 801-777-6626 to make your appointment. It is hoped the new appointment system will cut down on the time clients wait to see attorneys and will allow more flexibility for clients to schedule appointments convenient for their schedules. The office will continue its legal services of Powers of Attorney and Notary Services on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clinic parking lot repaving to begin The 75th Civil Engineer Squadron has contracted a paving project to repave the Clinic Parking Lots in five phases (South of Balmer Street). Phase 1 of this effort will begin Sept. 26 and continue through Oct. 5, weather conditions permitting. The initial start was delayed due to the weather. The clinic parking area northeast of Building 570, will be closed during the repaving. Traffic will be detoured to other parking areas. Motorists will not be able to travel where posted or deemed unsafe due to construction. Alternate parking areas are southeast and west of the clinic. Whenever parking areas are blocked (northeast of Building 570), alternate handicap parking will be marked and provided as near the building as possible. Others need to use alternate parking areas near the clinic and plan for the added time in advance. Additional information will be published providing readers with further schedules during construction in this area. Your patience and safe travel practices through the affected area is of high importance for your protection and that of Team Hill members and guests. Enlisted Spouses Club holding fundraiser for coins The Enlisted Spouses Club will hold a fundraiser bake sale for the new ESC Coin. They will need enlisted spouse volunteers to make two dozen individual packaged baked goods. If you participate you can get a coin for a discount price. The fundraiser on Sept 30 and Oct. 1 will be held each day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enlisted spouse volunteers will also be needed to help man the tables. For more information, please contact Cameron Jones, at 801-777-0253. 4-H club hosts national science day Oct. 5 is the 4-H National Youth Science Day and the Hill Air Force Base 4-H Club will host the Davis County area Wired for Wind National Science Experiment Expo on Oct. 5 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Clubs from the area will come together to showcase their very own wind turbine designs. Local engineers and green energy groups will be in attendance to answer questions and judge results. Snowbasin Ski Swap in Legacy Center Oct. 7-9 ovit e: fi 2011 OGDEN The Ogden Valley Winter Sports Foundation is holding the Snowbasin Ski Swap Oct. 7-9 at the Davis County Legacy Events Center in Farmington. The swap will hold new and used ski and snowboard gear for up to 70 percent off of retail prices. Snowbasin and Wolf Creek will be selling season passes, and coaches and staff will be on hand to answer questions about gear or their teams. The event is a fundraiser for the OVWSF.
