Show HILLTOP TIMES Hilltop TIME Sept. 22, 2011 748th Supply Chain Management Group members support their nominees at the Team Hill Quarterly Awards. They took home the Esprit De Corps trophy for the first and second quarter of 2011. In Wingman spirit BY 1ST three-weekend estate sale to include pricing items, controlling the large crowds that came to the sale, and when the employee had sold much of what she owned, they hauled their own personal items to the sale donating them and letting the employee keep the proceeds. The employees of the 414th SCMS were able to raise over $3,000. The donations were used to pay off legal fees, find a new place to live and fill their house full of groceries. The 748th SCMG Junior Leadership Council (JLC) is an organization for young leaders with 10 years or less of DoD experience. The JLC is designed to give leadership opportunities to those young leaders in the form of volunteer and group activities. Just recently it completed Operation Homefront - Back to School, which in conjunction with local Dollar 'free Stores contributed more than 4,500 school supplies. The Airman and Family Readiness Center then in turn delivered the supplies to more than 550 families on base during its "Keys to Education" event. In July, the group organized and supported Serve West Bountiful in which members while taking their own annual leave time helped West Bountiful clean up its residential areas to include lawn care, housing upkeep and installing a French drain. LT JASON HOLZMAN 748th Supply Chain Management Group T he 748th Supply Chain Management Group has spent the better part of the last two years reinvigorating and redefining its culture. Not only has the group focused on getting back to basics for day-to-day operations but it has strived to instill a 24/7 Wingman culture. Though Wingman Days are fun and act as a pressure release, the 748th SCMG leaders have always emphasized the value of their people as their "No. 1 resource and No. 1 priority" This led to a visual commitment banner signed by the entire leadership team as a visual to all of their commitment to their people. This culture of taking care of each other has materialized into an even bigger Wingman culture than the leaders had even hoped for. An employee in the 414th Supply Chain Management Squadron recently lost her home after losing a very expensive four year legal battle with a contractor. Following a house fire in 2007, work done by a contractor was deemed insufficient, building codes could not be met, the bank would not release the lien and the contractor declared bankruptcy. The employee had to liquidate everything she and her disabled husband owned. The 414th SCMS answered the call in exemplary Wingman fashion: planning and organizing a s3 r 1 ency_ or [ SAFE STORAGE CLIMATE CONTROL • BOAT • RV Military Discount 2 Months Free 801-675-8575 2 Blocks south of Roy gate Courtesy photo www.accucolor.biz Another recent event was support during the Susan G. Coleman Race for the Cure, where the 748th SCMG JLC raised over $1,200 and had more than 20 people run in the race. The 748th SCMG is also home to a very successful Key Spouse program. Members of the group did what they do best, and took an already successful program and improved it. Not only do they support their deployed warriors and their families, they now share the Wingman Day culture with the families of deployed warriors. At the annual group picnic in July, the 748th SCMG Key Spouses unveiled and jump-started the following concept: At every Wingman Day event the group participates in, there will be a donation box for anyone to donate money. The money raised will go directly to the Key Spouse program, where it will be distributed to deployed warriors' families in the form of gift certificates for things such as dinner, movies and bowling. At the first event, the Key Spouses raised $300 to directly support their deployed warriors' families. The culture of the 748th SCMG has gone towards creating a work environment conducive to empowering the people to do what they need to do to support the war-fighter. This can be seen throughout the walls of its buildings, the attitudes of its people, and the results of its efforts seen round the world. This group is demonstrating a example of how culture can define an identity, influence its people, and bolster an environment of success. 801.779.2420 - ¥ - :$5.00 Off $20.00 Ticket!
