Breznick struck out 13 and walked eight while Brietenstein had 15 strikeouts and gave up seven walks. 7-- Central Commission scored once in the first inning to jump off to a 0 lead but a home run in the third frame by Kiwanis' Tommy Hribar put his team into a temporary 1 lead. The Kiwanis advantage was short lived, however, as 2-- Central Commission erupted for six big runs in the fourth inning to wrap up the game. Singles by Paul Star and Dave Johnson plus a double by Richard Mortensen were the big blows of the frame for the winners. Troy Bryan hurled a fine game for Helper Merc to give them the win over Mutual Furniture. Bryan pitched shutout ball for five innings before the Mutual squad touched him for two runs in the final frame, but seven Helper Merc runs on the scoreboard by that time meant the victory. Jason Allred, Bryan, David Hansen and David Verdi were the leading hitters for the winning Helper Merc team, Verdi getting two singles. For Mutual Furniture Elton Foster had two singles and Zeleznick and Robert Michael Ray Sanchez each had one base knocks. The postponed games orginally scheduled for last Wednesday and Friday have been set for Friday and Saturday of this week after which a time will be taken off for the holiday week, action resuming again on Monday, July 7. 9-- 8. 2 Jewkes appeared to come out of it as he struck out the next two, but left fielder Paul Campbell for the Murray nine blasted his first offering out of the ball park for a grand slam story book ending to the game. Sportsmen should be reminded that access on private lands is a privilege and not a right. Sportsmen leaving gates open, blocking lanes, vandalism, tearing fences down, harassing livestock, and littering are the most serious problems to land owners. A serious example of littering on private lands is at Scofield Reservoir. This water receives a large number of anglers each week. An enormous volume of trash is left on the shoreline and in camping areas by the sportsmen. The natural beauty of the reservoir is ruined. Other campers visiting the area are then forced to spend recreational time wading through sacks of garbage in the water and on the shore. On numerous occasions land owners have expressed to me that if the littering continues they will close their land to access. Sportsmen should take land abuse private seriously. If they do not in the future access for fishing will become more restrictive. All campers should be reminded to take all trash home and deposit it in a garbage can. Only a big effort by the public to clean up recreational areas will save future hunting and fishing access on private lands. Do your part in cleaning camping areas and even a friendly helping hand to your neighbor to clean their camp will help a lot. Put forth some real effort and I'm sure a lot can be accomplished and the surroundings around all of us will be a better place to live in. With these special advantages: Week's Legion ball slate A busy slate faces the local American Legion baseball team this week as rain wiped out most of the games on tap for last week. Tonight (Wednesday) Provo comes to Helper for a District Four game and Friday night the team travels to Springville for another league encounter. Both- league games on the slate for last week, one with Springville and another with Provo were rained out and will have to be rescheduled. This coming Saturday Manager Elvin (Fudd) Juliano will take his squad to Tooele for an exhibition doubleheader with the Tooele nine, one of the top teams in the Salt Lake Valley loop. Game times at Tooele Saturday are 1 and 3 p.m. The Helper-Prov- o game tonight on the local field is scheduled for 8 p.m. and the game at Springville Friday night is on tap for 7:30 p.m. S J Quarterly statement of your current Telephone transfer An identification convenience. card aids you in making balance, including interest, Transfer money by phone from your daily interest savings account to your checking account. deposits, withdrawals or transfers.
