Show DEATH CLAIMS AGED WOMAN Sophia Melquist, for the past thirty-four years a resident of Gunnison, and the wife of A. U. Melquist, passed pass-ed peacefully away at her home last Sunday morning, following a linger-ing linger-ing illness. For the past three years Mrs. Melquist had been confined to her bed as a result of complications following an operation. In 1873 and while yet a resident of Sweden, Mrs Melquist was operated on and sinct that time her health had been failing The deceased was born in Swedei in December, 1836, and was past 8b years of age. "In 18 69 she was mar tied to A. U. Melquist and two chil dren wore born. Both passed awa; while yet young and the bereave: husband is the sole survivor. In 188( Mr. and Mrs. Melquist came to th: United States and direct to Gunni son where they have since resided continuously. Mrs. Melquist was a staunch mem ber of the L. D. S. church and befon coming to America was most active in her work and for several year was president of the Relief Society ii her native land. Simple but impressive funera' services were held last Wednesda. afternoon for the deceased. Service were held at the home and were con ducted by Bishop E. L. Swalberg Joseph Christensen and Hyrum Fred rickson, intimate friends of the d ceased, gave short addresses and with a selected choir, which rendere: several choice selections, the service were most impressive. Interment was at the Gunnisc cemotery and a large concourse ( sorrowing friends were in ' attenc r.nce. CARD OF THANKS.
