Much appreciation is expressed to hospital volunteer Carol Camp for her many hours of work setting up the new gift shop, and to all hospital volunteers for staffing the gift shop. We would also like to thank Garlyn and Debbie Squire for making and donating the gift shop sign. Located adjacent to the main hospital lobby, the gift shop now has greeting cards, baby gifts, jewelry, items for the home, confections and seasonal items. Hospital volunteers logged over 1600 hours of service last year, and hospice volunteers logged another 500 plus hours serving hospice patients and family members. We thank all of the volunteers for their service. If anyone has a desire to participate with this great group of volunteers either in the hospital or with hospice, please contact Susan Anderson, volunteer coordinator, at 528-3955. Medical Laboratory Professionals Week The week of April 21st was National Medical Laboratory Professionals Week. Medical Technologists, or Clinical Laboratory Technologists, play a crucial role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease through clinical laboratory testing. There are currently four full-time medical technologists at Gunnison Valley Hospital (Ardean Anderson, Brittany Anderson, Doug Agren and Joe Mellor) and one in training (BoWyn Ashworth). We are grateful to have such a great group of technologists and also appreciate phlebotomist Gina Boren and office coordinator Suzanne Buchanan for providing lab support.
