Girls pictured are: Sarah A., Mariah J., Colissa J., Chelsey S., Amber V., Myriah B., Julie J., Noemi M., Sarah Q., Heather J. and Chelsea L. This year’s theme was “What my Grandmother Taught Me” The girls learned to make cheese, butter and ice cream the same way our grandmothers did. They learned to crochet, card weave and knit hats on circular looms. They also attended classes on penmanship and writing journals; manner and tablesettings; flower arranging and made some simple kitchen musical instruments. They also made up skits that were spoofs of nursery rhymes or fairy tales. They shares these skits with the whole group at the campfire. They were very creative with their spoofs and costumes. The camp ended with songs and games. They made many new friends and learn about lost arts and some things that have been replaced in society. Girl Scouts build girls of courage, confidence, and character that make the world a better place. Troops are being formed in your areas. Please call Lynette Handleson, Sanpete Service Unit Director @435-283-0202 or Uleda Westlund, Volunteer Service Coordinator, Girl Scouts of Utah @ 800-678-7809 Ext 61 for more information. People wonder why I hunt those little doves, there ain’t much there to eat. But they missed the point completely, It’s sunrise in Sanpete. Walk around the bushes and out across the rock, its not quite as worm as it was last weekend and the farmers are cutting crops. The smell of hay and fresh cut corn comes driftin’ up to me, these’s nothing quite as fine as sunrise in Sanpete. Read all about it in the Gunnison Valley Gazette! The days are gettin’ shorter the nights are gettin’ colder, the leaves will soon start to fall, as I look out across the valley at the beauty of it all, thankin God in my own way the way He knows me to be. I’m free, alive and here to see the sunrise in Sanpete. So in the end I know you’ve guessed, it ain’t the hunt at all it’s standin’ here on the west canal on this fresh new day of fall. So as you read these words I wrote, I hope you’ll understand we lived right out here in the promised land. and although He already has, may God bless you and me and the sunrise in Sanpete.
