The U of U Clinic’s record has impressive data to support its reading tutoring instruction. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to brush up their reading skills to become more fluent readers. Each eligible student spends 45 minutes twice or three times a week with a tutor studying vowel sound combinations that give them problems, then practicing reading accurately and quickly. Speed and accuracy are charted each day, so students, tutors and parents can see progress week by week. Each day, each student also reads books worth Accelerated Reader points, so they get double benefit from participating.
