Show HATCHTOWN DAM GIVES WAY. Estimated That Damage by Flood Will Reach $100,000. Salt Lake City. Under the pressure pres-sure of high water resulting from rains, unusually high water and fast melting snow in the mountain canyons can-yons of the headwaters of the Sevier river the Hatchtown dam, seventy; two miles south of Marysvale, sixty miles south of Piute dam and adjacent ad-jacent to the little settlement of Hatch, in Garfield county, burst at about 7 o'clock Monday night, releasing re-leasing more than 17,000 acre-feet of 'vater. It is estimated that the flood caused ilamage aggregating in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of $100,000. The dam cost about $50,000 in its construction. |
