Show COMMERCIAL CLUBS MEET. Splendid Session of the Combined Com-bined Clubs of Sanpete, Sevier and Piute Counties. The United Commercial Clubs of Sanpete, Sevier and Piute counties mat in this city last Friday and 'Saturday. 'Sat-urday. The attendance was not x as large as expected and Governor Spry failed to put in an appearance. The visitors were met at the depot by the reception committee and Gunnison Gun-nison City Band aid escorted into town where they were assigned to their different places of stopping, A number of people came dowu from Salt Lake and two large automobiles were kept busy hauling people iib,o.ut. Shortly after 3 o'clock the meeting commenced at the club room in the city hall and many important questions ques-tions of commercial interest was discussed. dis-cussed. The committee on advertising, advertis-ing, appointed some months ago, submitted their report and recom-aiended recom-aiended thepublication of a booklet advertising the resources of the three counties. It was decided that the committee go ahe.id with the advertising adver-tising and to ask for bids from the publishers in the district. A com-mitti com-mitti e of J. M. Boyden of Sanpete, C. N. He also extended ex-tended an invitation to the clubs to hold their next meeting at Saliua on Auguit 9;h, which was decided upon. The questiou of freight rates and poor service for this section received considerable discussion. A committee commit-tee of five consisting of M. F. Murray and L. R. Anderson of Sanpete; A. J. Crosier and John Hood of Sevier, and William White of Piute were appointed ap-pointed to investigate the matter of railroad rates. Meeting adjourned until 8 o'clock and trie quests were escorted to the opera house where au elaborate banquet ban-quet was served, over three hundred people being seated at the tables The decorations tbroughont the build inpf being earned out in the national colors. While the banquet was being be-ing served tbo orchestra furnished music. Two beautiful soloii wete sang by miss Emily L-irson. At the evening session the matter of a su?ar factory and the sugir trust was discussed. The matter was taken up in earnest with a view of securing secur-ing a factory for this district. Arrangements Ar-rangements were made for a standing sugar faetory committee by each club sending in the name of its member mem-ber on the committee. The nffair was brought to a conclusion conclu-sion by a grand tnll in the evening attended by many visitors who enjoyed enjoy-ed untii a late hour. Saturday the Salt Lake visitors and many of the delegates tvere taken in hand by the Spalding and Livingston Investment company and were given an opportunity to Fee the valley and look over the large tract of choice fruiv and farming land that is bi;ing reclaimed by this company.
