The vote In favor of the amendments amend-ments was so small that Senator Cummins Cum-mins asked for only five roll calls, although al-though he had announced his intention of asking for at least ten. The maximum maxi-mum vote for his tariff amendments was fourteen, compared with a maximum maxi-mum vote of fifty-three against.
