Show Aeronauts Crushed to Death. Moulins, France. The French dirigible dirig-ible military balloon Republique exploded ex-ploded in the air five miles from here on Saturday, and was wrecked. The four men on board were killed. They were Captain Marshal, Lieutenant Chaure, Sub-Lieutenants Vincenot and Reux. The Republique left La Palisse at 7 a. m., and passed Mourns at a quarter before 9, going at a high rate of speed and apparently under control. Nothing presaged the terrible catastrophe catas-trophe which occurred a few minutes later. Without warning, the airship exploded with a loud report. At the time she was at an altitude of more than 300 feet. The wrecked car fell to the ground, and the four men on board were crushed to death. |
