The faculty of Grand County High School is pleased to announce the Students of the Month for February are Jessie Holyoak and Matt Radcliffe. Jessie Cheyenne Holyoak is the daughter of Paul and Kathie Holyoak. Having attended Grand County Schools since kindergarten, Jessie is a Senior at Grand County High School. Jessie was nominated because she is extremely motivated and has a great attitude. Her attitude is evident, in part, in her grade point average of 3.9. Even with a nearly per fect GPA, Jessie challenges herself by taking College Chemistry, Trigonometry, A.P. English and EMT classes. She particularly enjoys Strings, English and Seminary, because she says, Theyre fun, challenging, and interesting. Jessie has been involved in many activities. One of her favorites was Girls State about which she gram and has served as the senior judge. Jessie has played cello and piano for six years, is a member of the Honor Society, and manager for the says, Spending two weeks with Ms. to- tal strangers, making them your best friends and learning about the working of state government all made it a great experience. She also helped start the Youth Court pro girls basketball team. Knight intermediate school will receive proceeds from a spaghetti dinner benefit planned for March 5 at the Moab Civic Center. The event, to be catered by Fat City Smokehouse, will begin at 6 p.m., and will feature clam, meat or veggy sauces. Price will be $5 per person or $9 for couples. At 8 p.m. local artists and merchants have donated lots of merchandise for auction. This event should be fun and all proceeds will go to the HMK strings department. Persons having items or services for the auction should take them to HMK. Tickets can be purchased at HMK, Grand Valley Oxygen or Moab Bit and Tool. Aglow will be Moab area as a house Fellowship. He is also a senior at GCHS and a student of Grand County Schools since kindergarten. The teacher who nominated Matt cited his outstanding academic record in three A.P. classes. He is taking A P Calculus, A.P. English and A.P. Art. Matt says the Calculus and English are challenging, but, I love art, Mr. Beckers a great teacher. Active in sports, Matt has lettered in soccer, track and basketball. He is a state champion in the 1600 medley relay. The basketball team won all region his Junior Year. He says his favorite memory of GCHS is, in fact, playing against San Juan at home this year. As he says, I like the crazy crowd at basketball games. Next fall he hopes to be in college majoring in business or art. The Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks under the direction of Charles Miley.
