Show REPUBLICANS ANDDUTY5 Gentile Republicans must not forget that Utah has three electoral votes and they must be cast for Roosevelt and Fairbank's electors. The only way to make sure of this Js to support the Republican Repub-lican ticket in its enUra$. If some of the candidates candi-dates do not appeal to tin, if the methods used .to secure the nomlnatidttg were distasteful, discussion discus-sion of them must be ffostponed,. for a half of a ticket was never advocated with success. The danger in that plan is that the voters will become be-come demoralised and not pt&tiMf all. Political campaigns are in a measures like military campaigns. cam-paigns. An order for the retreat of one regiment regi-ment is apt to put an army to fight, the rolling back of a single regiment has often given a whole army a panic. It is said that the rush to the rear of an ammunition wagon going for more ammunition ammu-nition made the panic which ended in rout at first Bull Run. Again a4 political campaign is a little like a quarrel betwefn two families. If one gets to quarrel among its oivn members, the other is prone to win. Again, personal likes and dislikes have to ne waived in a political campaign. All Republicans Republi-cans think it would be little less than a national na-tional calamity should President Roosevelt be defeated in November. The election may be so close that three votes either way may decide it. Should Utah be in the Democratic column and should her three votes elect Judge Parker and de-foat de-foat President Roosevelt, it would- cause universal sorrow among Utah Republicans. The way to avoid this is to sink heartburnings and all work for the election of the Republican ticKe. It is the right and manly thing to do. When the election is over It will be time to consider less Important matters. The thing to do now is to take the offensive of-fensive for the Republican ticket. |
