Show Mining JVfotes. The long persistent work of the Little Chief Alining company has at last been reyar(le(l, notification noti-fication coming from Joseph Hannifen, the man-ager, man-ager, the first part of the week, that he had uncovered un-covered ore at the depth of 1,000 feet, running from 15 to 22 ounces silver, G to 44 per cent lead, and 90 cents in gold. The find was two feet wide, the ore has widened out as the work advanced, and the management is certain of a large body further on. After many months of patient work, and waiting the reported strike is a cause for rejoicing re-joicing among the shareholders. fcy to to The authoritative prediction of an advance in the price of lead in the near future was the cause of much good feeling in the metal market during the week. It came from a prominent shareholder in the American Smelting & Refining company, and he states that the price will he $3.75 during 1903. It is stated that local producers have effected ef-fected an agreement with the American Smelting & Refining company in a .recent New York conference, con-ference, and that the result will be officially announced an-nounced very soon. i v & & j The latest Park City property to show signs of I life, is the Bonanza company owning six claims near the Valeo, and it is the intention of the owners own-ers to begin active development in the spring. It is comparatively near a number of active Snake creek properties and also the Connolly group, Columbus, Park City Superior, Copper King and Copper Queen. Dr. K. P. LeCompte is at the head of the company. I to to to Frank Davis, manager of the New York-Tono-pah Mining company, has sent in most encouraging encourag-ing reports on the condition of the property. The light blue porphyry that has made the camp famous, fa-mous, has been encountered, and that is enough usually for a company developing property in Ton- Iopah to rejoice over. & & There is a story freely discussed in mining circles, cir-cles, the substance of which is that several local men are trying hard to get possession of the Yankee. Yan-kee. In this connection, it is said, that through one of the local bank officials, Mr. DuBois was recently offered some GO cents a share for his entire en-tire holdings, and that he flatly refused the offer. Work is progressing at the property, and some ore is being shipped to the smelter. to to to Mr. Weir has given little information regarding the advance in the price of Ajax since the new year, and offers no explanation stating that the ad-i ad-i vance has been of as much surprise to him, as to anyone else. However, he states that he expects a ,reat change for the better in the property before be-fore many months. He says that some very fine H ore is coming from the mine at the present time, I and that he expects some rich results after a greater depth has been reached. The price of the stock is slightly over 30 cents a share. I & S & Following the report of the strike in theLit- tie Chief, another company which has had a long H and expensive experience in its search for ore, received the news of a strike, right on the heels M of its annual meeting. The superintendent of the H Snowflake announces a strike of galena, and lead carbonates, and most favorable conditions for the j finding of a large body of ore. The strike was wade in the upraise from the 700-foot level. Stoping has begun in the Tetro, and shipments will start from that property in a few days. What ft is said is the last assessment, will be used in cleaning the slate of debts, the proceeds of the H k8t assessment going for new machinery. It is stated that there will be no more assessments, and that the mine will more than pay its way .hereafter. |
