Show MISS VIRGINIA 1JUATTY The marriage of Miss Edith Acheson, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. K. Acheson, and Geo. A. Eaton, principal of the Salt Lake High, school, took place at St. Peter's Episcopal church at Norfolk, Nor-folk, Virginia, on Wednesday evening, the Reverend Rev-erend Reuben Meredith performing the ceremony. After a trip of sevoral weeks in tho east, they IHHaiHHHBaHHHHBHHHiiH will return to Salt Lake and will make their home here. Miss Celeste Acheson of Chattanooga Chatta-nooga was maid of honor, and Miss Elizabeth Acheson of the same city and Miss Louise Cannon Can-non of Norfolk bridesmaids. Richard Tennyson of Norfolk was best man for Professor Eaton, and Allen Baxter and Raymond Meredith were ushers. Mrs. James A. Miner, Mrs. Benner X. Smith and Miss Margaret McClure entertained delightfully delight-fully at luncheon at the Hotel Utah on Wednesday for a dozen of the young friends of Miss McClure and a number of the older ladies. This was one of the prettiest mid-day events of the week. The luncheons given by Miss Selma Wall at the Country club on Monday and Tuesday were very original and delightful in their appointments, and among the largest affairs of the kind given at the club this summer, some forty guests enjoying en-joying each affair. The luncheons were held in ' the main dining room, with a large table in the center and smaller tables surrounding it. ' The luncheon of Monday was distinctly Japanese in its beautiful floral decorations and place cards, and that of the Fourth of July thoroughly American Ameri-can in every particular. The second of a series of luncheons at the Country club was given by Mrs. T. T. Webber and Miss Webber on Thursday afternoon, and as usual in the affairs given by these hostesses, was most delightful. In honor of Mr. and Mrs Karl A. Scheid and Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Terry, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Caine gave an elaborate dinner at the Commercial Commer-cial club on Tuesday evening Mrs. Win. T. Benson -was the hostess at a bridge breakfast at her home on Wednesday, assisted by Mrs. J. C. Hanchett, Mrs. W. W. Trimmer and Miss Hazel Sappington. In honor of Mrs. H. A. Prosser of New York and Mrs. Stephen H. Babcock, Mrs. George Raymond Ray-mond Walker was the hostess at a beautiful tea at her country home on Friday afternoon Mrs. R. J. Evans entertained at a luncheon at the Commercial club in honor of her sister, Mrs. Charles Hoag of Sheridan, Wyoming, on Monday. Mon-day. Covers were laid for fifteen. |
