Show W. H. Wilkins seemed to be suffering some severe mental pangs when he sent in his resignation resigna-tion as clerk of the board of public works, and made a frantic effort to recover the resignation before it was too late. The letter makes a rather sorry showing for the clerk. The fact that the board desired his resignation should have been sufficient, whether or not any contractor might have wished to bring about his political demise. Some charity should be enlisted to provide a 1 nursery for the many homeless politicians who . are abroad since the late election. |
