In a new made tomb the Worm King sat (In the tomb of the Midas-Man), He mused awhile with a ghastly smile He spoke to his scarlet clan: "Go seek through flesh and brain and heart, Through the ears and eyes of him. And find me one unsullied part to send to the Cherubim". And the writhing ranks of the blood-red worms Moved off to their duty grim. Through the sable day of the dead man's realm, (The realm of slime and mold) They sought the thing but to their King At nigi.o this tale they told: "The flesh and blood and bones of him Are barren of all save greed, And not of worth to the Cherubim Can we find in this lmur of need. (Not one good part did the red worms find, Nor the trace of one good deed). "Oh, deep we delved in his sorded brain (jno kindly thought was there). On his tongue were lies, and his cursed, eyes Gleamed with Hell's despair, And nought we found in the heart, oh, King, To send to the Cherubim, 'Twas hard as the monstrous marble thing That stands at tho head of mm", Ay, this was the tale that the red worms told As they sat in judgment grim. In the hideous skull the Worm King sat (In the skull of the Midas-Man), With a ghastly smile he mused awhile Then spoke to his scarlet clan: "Since naught is here for the Cherubim, We will let the corpse decay, And perchanco the flesh and blood of him Will feed n flower some day."
