B Tho earth breathes blithely with the dawn of H Spring, H wak'ning sun the wintry rigor mocks; m The poet woos the Nine to aid him sing B And with long, tap'ring Angers flecks his locks. Bf The order 's in, the poem muBt be writ m With hungry gaze he scans the flick'ring stars ; B And wonders if, as seasons flow and flit, B The Springtide poet's busy up in Mars. B His unshorn hirsute fluttereth fluent-wise; B He madly grapples with the rhythmic peal; B But alien fancies swim in clamorous guise B His vision is of one large, steaming meal. H; Tureens of soup careen on seas of wine; B He sees them float, float .on with lofty spars; B He starts to see the Zodiac calmly shine: B Are Springtime bards as hungry up in Mars? B Bl,t now one usMan ue nas rhymed with grace: B Again the soup tureen down fell the quill; B Aml when the Springtime sun illumed his face B It shone upon a bard long-maned and still. K When aliens found him by his broken lyre B His pale, sad eyes were upturned to the stars B And seemed, as in the night, to still inquire: B "Do Springtime bards fare thus in distant B Mars?"
