Farmers in western Oklahoma, and especially in Beaver county, which has been free range for cattlemen since cattle were brought to Oklahoma, aro becoming greatly concerned over tho fact that free range will expire In August next, and making extended Inquiry how to proceed to enforce tho new rulo They want herd law, but do not know how to get It. Albert Wellborn, a farmer of Beaver county, who claims to bo posted In tho matter, said; "Somo tlmo before tho law expires one-fourth of the legal voters of Beaver Beav-er county should petition tho county commissioners to divide tho county Into cattle districts of not less than two nor moro than four congressional townships, or not less than 72 nor moro thon 141 sections. "After this Is done, If one-fourth ot the legal voters of a cattle district ' want the cattle restrained on herd law they petition tho county commissioners, commis-sioners, who mny order nn election to be held In the cnttlo district. A majority ma-jority vote cast at tho election, if for herd law, will glvo It to them." It ts likely this step will bo taken In all tho counties In western Oklahoma Okla-homa where tho freo range has prevailed, pre-vailed, for these lands nre now being claimed for agricultural puitooseB, with tho modern methods of farming.
