Show By Lynn Munson 679-8627 Vicki Syrett held a bridal shower for Krisette Shakespeare at Vicki's house with 32 friends and relatives attending. It was a great party and Krisette received many lovely gifts. Vicki also reports that her 6-year-old granddaughter Cambry had an appendectomy. Cambry is the daughter of Mike and Stacy Jensen of Cedar City. Arriving in a bad snow storm last Friday were Don and Dixie Munson to visit Si Munson, Lynn Munson and Alan Munson. Don and Dixie's daughter Debra Hunt and Kris Tanner and her son Alex Peterson from Salt Lake City made it as far as Richfield before stopping for the night. They all met at the care center in Panguitch for several hours Si and Dixie's sister Ardis Evans. They brought Si home for dinner and he really enjoyed being home for a short while. He ate really well and seems to be doing better. His family hopes to bring him home more often as he gains strength. Joe Pollock of LaVerkin visited for four days with mother Janet Pollock and other family members. They all enjoyed having Joe here. Kenneth and Jeanie Hall are moving out of Louise Ott's home and into Virgil and LaFaun Pollock's home. Louise was released from her mission on Nov. 2, but doesn't report her mission until Nov. 19. It will be great to see her again. There was a large and lovely reception for Krisette Shakespeare and Chris Roberts last week. Many out-of-town relatives of both the bride's parents, Darwin and Kathy Shakespeare, attended even though the weather was bad. Congratulations to the happy newlyweds. Wallace and Mary Ott had son Kim Ott, Kim's dentist friend from California, and son Sherrell Ott and his son Wayne Ott to help move their cattle to winter range. They ran into a big flood coming out of Yelllow Creek near Georgetown; They had to ride their horses through the water and were really soaked by the time they got home. It was a harder experience than Kim's friend expected. Also moving cattle for Jack and Mae Chynoweth were Evan and Carolyn Chynoweth of St. George and their son Scott of Highland. Jim and Christine Milne of St. George were here to help again. Jack and Mae were so grateful for the help. ' Visiting with Clive and Thelma Bybee for the deer hunt were son Kevin Bybee and his sons Josh and Jake of Ogden. Mary Ann and Jessica Castor of St. George were here at the same time. Though the boys didn't get their deer, theyenjoyed their visit with the families here in Tropic. Speakers in LDS sacrament meeting were the full time missionaries and youth speakers! Lori Barton, Heather Shakespear; and Dayna Deardon. There were also big ward changes. The Young Womens presidency, Randa Kay Ott, president; Crystal Mortensen, 1st counselor; Cheryl LeFevre, 2nd counselor; and Pat Shakespear, secretary, were released. Board members released were Donna Fagergren, Kay Shakespear, Melody; Richards, Tracy Johnson, Doric Baugh, Machelle Pollock, and Luciene Syrett. Elwood and Colleen Campbell were released as missionary board and plaque advisors. Newly sustained in the Young Women's organization were' Melissa Castagnetto, president;' Luciene Syrett, 1st counselor;' Cheri Feltner, 2nd counselor; Kami Stevens, secretary; and board members Machelle Pollock, Tracy Johnson, and Kaycee Brinkerhoff, as Relief Society chorister. Dorie Baugh and Berdell Barton were sustained to the missionary board and as plaque leader. The LDS Single Adult Home Evening Group ' met for a Halloween party at Ella Adair's. Eight of the 10 members were there to enjoy a delicious bowl of chili and other fixin's. Everyone told Halloween stories and Rella Alvey won the prize for the best story. Ask Rella about it sometime. It was hilarious. Ron and Susan Harris, John and Marie Niemann, Rebecca Bales, Sandrea Francisco, Karleen Mclnelly, Rick Bybee, and Alfred Foster spent several days in Salt Lake City attending Emergency Medical Technician meetings. (See TROPIC on page 3-A) TROPIC From Page 2-A Renon Bybce took Rick to . the meetings and then took her girls Branna and Shoncy and parents Orlan and Ferriland Ruesch to Mammoth, Mont., to attend the baptism of Kimberlee Hansen's daughter Kasi. Shirley Haycock's daughter Garna Kay Deuel of St. George, recuperating at home from surgery' had to return to the hospital with a suspected blood clot and pneumonia but has since returned home again where she is doing better. Wallace and Mary Ott, Sherrell and Karen Ott, and Doyle and Thelma Cottam were in Cedar City to help Wayne Ott celebrate his birthday. Wayne's special birthday gift was his LDS mission call to the Hong Kong, China. Receiving his LDS mission call the same day was Shannon Pollock, son of Vance and Jeanene Pollock. He will be keeping a family tradition by serving in Charlotte, N.C. His grandfather Afton Pollock served in the same mission as did Shannon's great-grandparents Sam and Emily Pollock. . Kent and Betty Wintch have moved to Longmont, Colo. Pam and Randy Spencer were here to help them move. They will be sorely missed this winter but hope the time goes by quickly and they'll be home in the early Spring. They received some excellent news before they . left.' Their great-grandson Christopher Charles Spencer, son of Randy Kent and Alice Spencer of Sprngville, was released from the hospital after a five-month stay. He was born prematurely, weighing just over 1 pound. He is now over 6 pounds. The entire family is ecstatic to have him home and prayers are that he will continue to gain strength and do well. The LDS Relief Society Home Enrichment meeting had a very nice group in attendance. Margaret Mecham gave the lesson on gratitude, teachers Keela Mangum, Cami Mangum, Bonnie Miles and Nellie Mecham all had interesting items to show and tell and taste! The LDS Stake Relief Society Fall Social was held in Escalante but due to a conflict in 'scheduling with the Youth Conference in Tropic, there wasn't a large crowd to hear and view Jerry Roundy's slide show and presentation on the Holy Land. Attending from Tropic were Gail and Bonnie Miles, Ella Adair, and Berdcll and Carma Barton. As they traveled home, they came across a couple from ' Holland whose car had almost slid off the "Blues". One front wheel was off the cliff and one back wheel in the air. Many stopped to help get the car back on ' the road. Berdell and Carma brought them to Tropic to get a motel room. The visitors were grateful for all the kind help they received. Keela Mangum is in Mazatlan, Mexico, for a week or more. She and ' friends DayLean Houston of Kanab and Joanie Cohn of Cedar City take this holiday every year. Their condo is on. the beach and they spend the time soaking up the sun and eating lots of fresh . fish. Keela's daughter and son-in-law Laycee and Ryan Johnson came up from St. George to keep her husband Pete from getting too lonesome or starving himself. |
