Show Cougar Killed In Escalante ESCALANTE Five pregnant ewes were killed in the night Feb. 12 and a goat the following day before Animal Control Officer Roger Nowers of Panguitch tracked and killed the cougar that had earlier killed another goat at Turnabout Ranch in Escalante. The sheep, several turkeys and a variety of chickens were killed in the shed area near Pine Creek, only 500 feet from the ranch's main building. Nowers started tracking the cougar with his dogs at daybreak on Friday and within a few hours, killed the cougar, a large male about five years old weighing 150 to 160 pounds. Turnabout provides a special program for troubled youth who participate in the activities of operating the ranch as a part of their therapy. |
