' Ernest Hans And Golda Peterson Jackson TEASDALE Ernest Hans Jackson, age 86, of Teasdale-beloved Teasdale-beloved father and servant of his God, of his family and of his community, com-munity, departed peacefully and of natural causes from this mortal life on Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997. His only regret was leaving behind his beloved red ledges of Wayne County. Born of pioneer heritage, Ernest Hans assisted his father, Ernest, in building the Teasdale LDS Waid Chapel, where he later served as Bishop. In numerous other church callings, he expressed a lifetime of gospel learning and teaching, including in-cluding two full-time missions. Ernest Hans devoted most of his adult life to teaching mathematics and science at Wayne High School, and his legacy continues in his students, stu-dents, many of whom have achieved great success in their own lives and careers. He had a great love for the people of Teasdale and always tried to make the town a better place. One of his projects, late in life, was working with the residents to rebuild the water system an undertaking un-dertaking which he greatly enjoyed. Ernest Hans Jackson was born February 14, 1911 in Teasdale, a son of Ernest and Ida May Larsen Jackson. He married Cora Golda Peterson, June 29, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Golda Peterson Jackson, Ernest Hans's bride of 60 years, followed her husband into eternity on Tues-. Tues-. day, Dec. 30,- 1997. Golda spent her youth in Boulder, where she rode horses, punched cattle, herded sheep and taught school. She fell in love with the young Teasdale man who had come to Boulder to build an LDS chapel. Following their marriage, Hans and Golda completed academic degrees together at Brigham Young University and at the University of Utah. Thereafter, Thereaf-ter, they moved to Wayne County, where Golda continued to teach for over 30 years. She was a kind and compassionate person, who was Dora Lillian (Walker) Newman, New-man, our loving wife, mother and grandmother died at her home in Salem of complications due to lung cancer on Jan. 5, 1998. She was bom in Jerome, Ida., on Apr. 3, 1924, the first child of Frank Leroy and Idella (Stratton) Walker. Dora married George Raymond Newman on Sept. 27, 1953 in Jerome, Ida. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the St. George LDS Temple on July 10, 1965. She is survived by her husband George Raymond Newman and children: Michael L. Davis, Oroville, Calif; Kenneth E. Davis, Las Vegas, Nev.; Daniel R. Newman, New-man, Santa Clara; Diana Petersen, Las Vegas, Nev.; Randy W. Newman, New-man, Baker City, Ore.; Darla D. Herdt, Las Vegas; Nev.; Jan E. Newman, Elk Ridge; two brothers Robert E Walker, Longmont, Colo, and George L. Walker, Jerome, Ida.; one sister Marian R. Reid, Jerome, Ida.; 39 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. in the Salem 7th Ward Chapel, 25 Apple Blossom Way, Salem, Utah. very active in the LDS church and community. She served for many years as Relief Society President and with her husband as a worker in the,Manti Temple and as a missionary mis-sionary in Palmyra, New York. She was widely known as a provider pro-vider of angel food cakes to the sick, the afflicted, the lonely; indeed to anyone who she thought needed them. Cora Golda Peterson Jackson was born March 14, 1912 in Pan-guitch, Pan-guitch, a daughter of Bertand and Rosann Goulding Peterson. The final request of both Hans and Golda was to express love and appreciation for the assistance given them by their family, their many friends, home health care and the staff of the Beehive Home in Loa, where they spent the last year of their lives, in loving care and in relative comfort. They are survived by three sons and their wives: Sherland Ernest and Lynette Jackson of Orem; Joseph Marden and Pamela Jackson of Houston, Tex.: Bertrand Elvon and Margaret Jackson of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. Ernest Hans is also survived by one brother, Weston Jackson of Gouldsboro, Penn.; two sisters: Fern J. Coleman of Highland and Reva J. Nelson of Brigham City. He was preceded in death by a sister, sis-ter, Ila Abraham. Golda is also survived by four brothers: James Marland Peterson, Joseph Conway Peterson, Bert Darwin Peterson and Garth Erway Peterson, all of Salt Lake City, and one sister Iona Alvey of Escalante. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Lapreal Spencer and Lorna Shelby. Joint funeral services were held Saturday, January 3, 1998 in the Teasdale LDS Ward Cultural Hall. Burial was in the Teasdale Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina. Jay Mond Crosby PANGUITCH Jay Mond Crosby, 82, of Panguitch, died Jan. 5, 1998, in Panguitch. He was born May 6, 1915, in Panguitch, to John Silas and Mary Ann Owens Crosby. Jay married Maxine Richards, September 7, 1941, in San Diego, Calif.. The marriage .was solemnized in the St. George 'LDS Temple, Oct. 24, 1942. Jay was an active member of the LDS Church. He was chief of the Panguitch Fire Department for 16 years, loved to fish and hunt and drive "Old Kemp" down the river lane and visit with his many friends. He especially loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Maxine, Panguitch; children, Richard Rich-ard J. and Betty Crosby, Yorba Linda, Calif; Norman D. and Sheryl Crosby, Pleasant Grove; Jaynell and Philip Bailey, Milford; Lynn and Amy Crosby, Billings, Mont.; Layne Crosby, Provo; daughter-in-law, Dana Crosby, Sandy; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers : Dee W. Crosby, Ellis Crosby, Tom Crosby; Art Crosby; John Crosby. He was preceded in death by son Evan Crosby; brothers, Silas O I v 1 . j Jay Crosby Crosby and Theron Crosby Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at 1:00 p.m. in the Panguitch 3rd LDS Ward Chapel where friends may call on Thursday morning from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery.
